The compliance record

A dated record of your notice settings, the theme checks and your plan changes, to show when the notice was in place.

Open Compliance record in Assay’s menu. It is a dated record you can show when someone asks whether your product pages carried the legal guarantee notice, and since when.

What it holds

  • Settings saved. Each save on the Notice page that changed something: every setting that changed, with its old and its new value. That includes Show the legal guarantee notice and Who sees the notice. Confirming by hand that the notice is on your product pages is recorded too. If a save reached Assay but not your storefront, the entry says so.
  • Theme check. What Assay found in your live theme: the notice block (and in which product templates), the app embed, both, or neither. Assay checks when you open Home, when you click Check again, and once a day. If it cannot read your theme, the entry says why.
  • Plan changed. A move between Free and Assay Professional.

Each settings and theme check entry also names the version of the official EU artwork Assay showed: one fingerprint (a SHA-256 hash) of the EUR-Lex files the notices and the GARAN label are made from. Assay never edits that artwork, so the same version means the same official files.

To keep the record short, a theme check adds an entry when its result changes, and otherwise one entry a day that says Same result as the last check. That entry is the proof that the check ran.

Who can see it

Assay keeps the record on every plan, from the day you install it. Viewing and downloading it is part of Assay Professional, so if you upgrade later, your earlier entries are already there.

Download it

Click Download CSV for the whole record, oldest entry first. It opens in any spreadsheet. The columns:

Column What it holds
time_utc When it happened, in UTC (for example 2026-10-06T03:17:00.000Z).
event settings_change, theme_check or plan_change.
summary The entry in one line of English, for example audience: everyone → eu, or block (templates/product.json); daily check.
artwork_sha256 The version of the official EU artwork, for settings and theme check entries.
detail Everything Assay recorded, as JSON.

A value that a spreadsheet would read as a formula (one that starts with =, +, - or @) starts with an apostrophe in the file, so opening it never runs anything.

How long it is kept

Assay keeps each entry for 3 years while the app is installed, and deletes older entries. When you uninstall, the record is deleted with the rest of your shop’s data 48 hours later, so download it before you uninstall. See Uninstalling and your data.

A PDF version is not available yet.

Checking the artwork version yourself

Assay keeps a manifest of the 52 official files it uses (the 24 notices in colour and in black and white, and the GARAN label sources), with the SHA-256 hash of each file as downloaded from EUR-Lex. The fingerprint is the SHA-256 of that list, one line per file in the form sha256sum writes (<hash> <file name>), sorted by file name. Ask support for the manifest and the files: anyone can then check each file against EUR-Lex and recompute the fingerprint with sha256sum $(ls *.jpg | LC_ALL=C sort) | sha256sum (on a Mac, shasum -a 256).
